I’m happy to announce that my YA speculative thriller THE OUTS is scheduled for publication by Curiosity Quills Press in 2017. YAHOO!

So that’s it! The Outs has found a home, and not too long from now I’m going to have to get started on book two so we can keep the world spinning. It’s crazy to think about, especially right now that I’m so deep in revisions on a middle grade fantasy adventure and finishing up the first draft of another YA sci-fi at the same time. So much to write, so little time.

But now we’ve got a trajectory. The Outs is moving forward, and so much improved thanks to the awesome mentorship I received from J.A. Souders through Brenda Drake’s #pitchwars. This process has been amazing, and while I know the hard work still lies ahead, I also know that my writing and this career path will only get better from here.

For those of you who don’t know, a couple years ago I left my career and started pursuing a new goal of writing books that take everything I’ve learned from working with teens to speak to them about the important things–life, pain, and the future. Those three are running themes through everything I write, and The Outs is no exception. Here’s the pitch that appeared in Publisher’s Marketplace:

E.S. Wesley's THE OUTS, pitched in the vein of FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST and CORALINE, in which memory-stealing blackouts push a seventeen-year-old honor student into kidnapping a little girl to keep her safe from the creature in her room, but the new voice in his head may be worse than any monster in the dark, so no, it's up to a disabled comic book fangirl to save them both before the girl he stole unravels everyone's future, to Alisa Gus at Curiosity Quills Press, for publication in Winter 2017 (world).

I won’t spoil the story for you (you have to read it!), but even after working on it this whole past year I’m still in love with this world. I can’t wait to get back into it when it comes time to write book two.

I’ll be sharing some of my experiences over the coming year, so be sure to sign up for the email list to catch all the details on when the book is coming. Stay tuned for more!
